Description

From September 1940 to April 1941 was produced the following modification - Ausf.E (released 233 machines).

Ausf.E became first of Panzer IV, on tower of which began to be established the fastenings for additional ammunition (Gepack Of kasten). Most [rasprostranennym] it was place on tower and housing of fastening for the additional fuel canisters.

Additional frontal (additional armored plate with the thickness of 30 mm) and lateral (additional armored plate with the thickness of 20 mm) armor was added after Polish company.

Ausf.E was characterized by the new form of driver [vizora], front drive wheels and commander cupola. At the end 1940 German High Command conducted standardization in the production Of panzer OF THE III and Panzer IV, which served the creation of new prototype on the base Of panzer IV Of ausf.E. The prototype Of pz.Kpfw.IV Of ausf Of emit Of schachtellaufwerk obtained new suspension FAMO on the large road wheels.

40 tanks Of pz.IV Of ausf.E were sent for North Africa with the 5th and eighth tank regiments.
